IPL Auction: Andy Flower 'defyed' Pakistan Super League to participate in IPL auction

Andy Flower Leaves PSL: In the Pakistan Super League, Multan Sultan's coach Andy Flower has left the Pakistan Super League midway to participate in the IPL 2022 auction.

Andy Flower, one of Zimbabwe's most successful cricketers, has left the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 7 midway for the Indian Premier League mega auction (IPL 2022 Mega Auction). The former Zimbabwe captain will take part in the IPL Mega Auction to be held in Bengaluru from February 12-13 as the head coach of new franchise Lucknow Super Giants.

A report in Cricket Pakistan quoting Multan Sultans media officials said that Flower will continue to guide the PSL side and will return to Pakistan on February 13. The report quoted the Sultans as saying, "The Sultan will remain without flowers for at least 10 days."

He will lead the Lucknow Super Giants in the mega auction to be held in Bangalore on February 12 and 13. The visit to India will be so quick that a strategy should be made before the auction. The Sultans will take on Peshawar Zalmi on February 5 and 10 and then will take on Lahore Qalandars on February 11. The Zimbabwean great will be back with the team ahead of the match against Karachi Kings on 16 February.

In Flower's absence, former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed and team support staff will guide the team. The Sultans have so far won all the four matches in the PSL-7 and are leading the charts.

Reportedly, after the departure of Chris Silverwood, Flower is one of the candidates for the position of head coach of England. The Lucknow Super Giants had appointed Flower as their head coach last December. That was the first appointment after the new IPL franchise came into existence. Sanjeev Goenka, owner of the Lucknow IPL team, said at the time of Flower's appointment that he was picked because of the vast amount of cricketing experience he had.
