Pakistani fast bowler found illegal, ban on bowling in international cricket

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain has been banned from bowling in international cricket. His bowling action was found to be illegal at the International Cricket Council (ICC)-approved testing center in Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a statement about Hasnain after his bowling action was tested. His action in the Big Bash League was reported against. An official PCB release said that the PCB today received a formal and detailed report from Cricket Australia on the testing of Mohammad Hasnain. It stated that his elbow was rotating beyond the 15-degree limit for good length deliveries, full length deliveries, slow bouncers and bouncers.

It further added that the PCB has discussed the report with its bowling experts and is confident that the issue will be resolved. The PCB will now appoint a bowling consultant, who will work with Mohammad Hasnain to help him improve his bowling action and be ready for re-evaluation. The PCB also said that Hasnain will not be allowed to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and will try to improve his bowling action during this period.

The board said that Mohammad Hasnain is very important to Pakistan cricket and is one of the very few bowlers to bowl consistently at a speed of 145 kmph. Keeping his future and Pakistan's interest ahead, the PCB has decided on the recommendation of the PSL 2022 Technical Committee that he will not be allowed to participate in the Pakistan Super League. He will instead use this time to work with a PCB-appointed bowling consultant to improve his bowling action, so that he can apply for reassessment and be eligible to return to international cricket as soon as practicable.
